Vice President of Medical Affairs and Enterprise Clinical Excellence, BD Peripheral Intervention
Dr. Meler is the Vice President of Medical Affairs at BD Peripheral Intervention and leads Enterprise Clinical Excellence for Becton Dickinson.
Dr. Meler journey to his current role is marked by a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence. He completed a BBA and dual Degree from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin, and then received his MD from UT Southwestern in Dallas. His training included general surgery at BUMC, Dallas, and later in DR, and he completed an IR fellowship at Emory University Hospital. He is dual board certified and possesses a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Interventional Radiology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and serves on multiple medical societies and specialty boards. The Society of Interventional Radiology awarded him their Fellow Society of Interventional Radiology. The FSIR designation Fellowship is among the most prestigious honors granted to SIR's members.
Dr. Meler joined BD in 2016 after working at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, for 23 years. Before joining BD, Dr. Meler served as Department Chairman and Director of IO at BUMC. His clinical areas of interest are PAD/PVD and GI/GU, deep and superficial venous, IO procedures: Ablation, TACE, Y90, embolics, biliary procedures, and TIPS. Dr. Meler continues to practice and teach as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Meler role extends beyond his clinical and procedural responsibilities. He is a key liaison between BDPI, the scientific community, medical societies, and key opinion leaders. His close collaboration with R&D, NPD, and business development teams ensures that all functional groups are supported and connected.
